A “joint venture” between Mainframe vendor and Telco allowing for both to investigate Linux on Mainframe / z-Linux, and clarify the benefits of the platform and Open Source.
The purpose were both to implement Linux servers and handle operations of the server and applications for the customers customer, which meant customisation and configuration of z/VM, Linux servers and applications/middle ware.
Tasks were:
- Dialogue with customer and customers customer to understand system requirements and purpose
- Implementation of OS/Applications
- LAMP, FTP, DNS, DB, etc.
- In cooperation with Oracle
- Compilation and install of Oracle DB on z/Linux
- Presentation of findings, documentation, etc.
